On May 10th 2011, our school Huntington Park High School had a sit-in to support our teachers with the reconstiution that our school is going threw. The sit-in soon turned into a walkout. We as students gathered together & walked in a civil, respectful way to the LAUSD Building located in Downtown LA. I was apart of this epidemic, & all i have to say is that we showed the board that Huntington Park High School can unite as one and be a different high school if they only let us try. We showed that we can achieve anything we put our mind to. We as students came together as one to try our hardest to prove a point that we wanted to prove, but when we got there, they didn't even want to show us enough respect to come outside of the building and acknowledge that we took that long walk of 7 miles from our high school to the LAUSD building. They were scared to hear the truth.

Even though ill be leaving high school next month, i still care about our school because this is my HomeTown school. My Mom, Brother, Cousins, Aunts & Uncles all graduated from this school. I wanted my kids to also graduate from this school, but now with the passing of this reconstitution, my kids will not be able to attend the school there mother went to.

Im really disappointed in the way the LAUSD Board members took us into consideration. They never came outside to talk to us & didn't show us the same respect we showed them. They're suppose to be leaders for us to look up to, but they really are not. They never took our thoughts about what  there about to do to our school into consideration. They only allowed the four HP students that were able to go in & attend the meeting, three minutes to talk. After those three minutes were up, they weren't able to talk anymore. They just showed disrespect to all of us that attend Huntington Park High School.
